BlogFam, I pray that all is well with you on this beautiful day, may it be filled with light and love. Our scripture reflection: 2 Corinthians 12:10 –
Therefore, I’m all right with weaknesses, insults, disasters, harassments, and stressful situations for the sake of Christ, because when I’m weak, then I’m strong.
Friends, I do not know very many people who will openly testify that they are OK with their weaknesses. They try to hide them. I do not know many people who will sit well with insults. They usually feel intimidated, bullied, and hurt by them. I do not know many who will readily come to terms with disasters in their lives. They tend to fall apart or fall out or fall into depression because of them. I do not know many people who will hold in peace the harassments that serve to dehumanize them and force them into silence because of embarrassment and unbelievability. I definitely know some who shut down when the pressure is on and the stress seems to overwhelm them as opposed to rolling with the punches.
Yet, here the author testifies of this strange sense of being all right with the craziness and disappointments of life. For so many of us, we look into our own strength for the resources we need to cope. We might even look to a good friend or our spouse or some other form of escape or avoidance so that we do not have to deal directly with the sadness or loneliness we might be feeling because of our current circumstances. But the key to the testimony of this verse is not self-help or self-empowerment. The key to the author’s all-right-ness with their current situation is their reliance upon who Christ is and how Christ may be moving in the midst of it all.
I’m all right with weaknesses, insults, disasters, harassments, and stressful situations for the sake of Christ, because when I’m weak, then I’m strong.
In other words, because of who Christ is in my heart and how Christ has transformed my life, I am alright with this stuff because through it all, I can be a witness and since I cannot handle it on my own anyway, I rely on the rock of my salvation for the strength and resilience I need in weakness. And in spite of the insults, disasters, harassments, and stressful situations, I will be OK.
Life might suck right now but when you are intentional about the ways in which you stand on Christ, our solid rock, then life becomes a little bit more bearable, moment by moment. Furthermore, know that Christ is faithful and able to provide the strength, the confidence, the solutions, the healing, and the relief you need in every situation.
Make this your declaration:
So, I’m all right
For Christ sake
And by Christ strength
I’m all right…
Friends, YOU will be OK.
Blessings, Glory and Sunshine
