I am so very grateful for the prayers of the righteous for they really do avail much! How much? Well, I cannot answer that question because I know that just speaking of the men and women in my own family, going back for generations, prayer has been a common spiritual discipline. With that being said, I know that the great cloud of witnesses connected to my own ancestry were praying before my mom and dad came together and the legacy of prayer has been, and I do not doubt that it will continue to be passed on for generations after me. This is a good thing. And the "how much" is therefore immeasurable.
Over the last few weeks, we have been talking about prayer and particularly about praying for others. I have not at all said that prayer for yourself is not important, but I have intentionally emphasized that prayer for other people is a way that we LOVE our neighbors as we love ourselves. So, we must PRAY one for another. Paul models this in the opening verses of Colossians 1 as we have previously discussed and today, I want to conclude this series in prayer with you, for others. I invite YOU to pray the same kind of prayer that Paul prayed for the Colossians, for someone else on today.
So, BlogFam, why don't we just pray together?
I want you to think of someone in your network or neighborhood or family or friends or office or school that you know needs prayer on today.
Do you have a name in mind?
OK. Great... If not, we will wait until you do and when you get that name in mind...Then KEEP READING...
Let us PRAY...
God of Grace and Love, On today, I pray for _________[NAME of PERSON You are Praying for]__________. On today, I continually ask God to fill ______________ with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that _______________may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that _______________ may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified _______________ to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For YOU have rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. This is my prayer and it is so IN JESUS NAME, AMEN! [Colossians 1:9-14]
THANK YOU for praying with me and for praying this prayer for someone else on today!
GOD LOVES YOU and I DO TOO!!!
Blessings, Glory, and Sunshine!
