ENCOURAGE Yourself AND Somebody Else 1 Thesslonians 5:11 Therefore
encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you
are doing. Greetings! BlogFam, Let me just come right out and
say it… Do NOT be selfish with Christ! I
do not know how much clearer I can be and after reading our verse for today,
you are probably wondering where that statement actually came from. So let me come right out and say this - and
this is my creative space for reflection and inspiration that you have chosen
to visit therefore I hope that you will at least consider my next statement -
THE GREATEST ENCOURAGEMENT YOU CAN GIVE YOURSELF and/or SOMEBODY ELSE IS
CHRIST. Again, BlogFam, Do NOT be selfish with
Christ! It is amazing how we will be saved or
think others need to be saved but our last thought in times of challenge or
frustration is the one who indeed saves.
Far too often we will ignore or totally dismiss the power of Christ to
ENCOURAGE us and those around us. I know
you pray to the Lord in times of trouble.
I know you might think He is able to bring you out of what you are in
right now. I know you believe that you
can DO all things through Him. BUT why
do we push Christ to the side when we NEED encouragement, when we need to be inspired
with courage, spirit, or confidence? It seems like we keep Christ on hold or on
reserve for “really” special occasions like He is a fine wine that is rarely
drank until certain people come to dinner or until certain things happen in the
affirmative for our lives and until then, we keep Christ on the shelf, hiding
Him in our hearts until the time is “right.”
BlogFam, we know that we can DO all things through Christ but when we
need to just feel better, when we need a boost to our self -esteem, when we
need a pick-me-up, we act as if that is too much for Christ to handle or not “big”
enough to warrant His attention. Sister
and Brothers, We have this ALL wrong! THE GREATEST ENCOURAGEMENT YOU CAN GIVE
YOURSELF and/or SOMEBODY ELSE IS CHRIST. But since we personally utilize this faulty
faith practice in our own lives, we do the same when it comes to the ways in
which we interact with others. We will
direct others to their own inner strength or to a good self- help book or offer
our own best advice to lift them up instead of speaking Christ into their
lives! We do this because we do not
speak Christ into our own lives and most of us have a tendency to do for others
in times of crisis what we do for ourselves…particularly when it comes to
matters of the heart. This is not a
pocketbook matter. It will not necessarily
directly impact your bank account. You
will not have to give an extra offering.
You just have to be willing to ENCOURAGE yourself and somebody else with
Christ. Christ can offer us and others so much
more than we could ever ask or think including ENCOURAGEMENT. We all need to be encouraged at some point or
another, for some reason or another and instead of keeping Christ on reserve
for the “big” things or the “really” bad situations or circumstances, let’s go
to Him first to be inspired with courage, spirit, or confidence in everything! It is selfish to keep Christ to or from
ourselves or from others when He alone has EVERYTHING to meet our needs and fulfill our desires. For Christ is THE GREATEST ENCOURAGEMENT YOU CAN
GIVE YOURSELF and/or SOMEBODY ELSE! Will
you try to give that kind of encouragement on today? Christ is the kind of encouragement that
will pick you up on the inside and turn your life all the way around on the
outside. Christ is the kind of
encouragement that will give you JOY unspeakable and PEACE that surpasses all
understanding. Christ is the kind of
encouragement that will change your life. Therefore
encourage yourself AND one another and build up yourself AND each other IN
CHRIST… THIS is what you need to be doing. BlogFam, Encourage Yourself AND Somebody
Else! GOD LOVES YOU and I DO TOO!
