Lord, I NEED A Sign!!! - Judges 6:17-24

Lord,I Need A Sign!
Judges 6:17-24
BlogFam,have you ever asked the Lord for a sign just so that you could have the blessed assurance that your next move was divinely directed?  I believe that at some point, ALL of us have.  I admit that I have asked for the Lord to confirm with a sign that I was indeed on the right track.   I also believe that there have been moments that the Lord has graciously given me that sign even when I have not asked in order to help build up my faith and trust in Him.
My sisters and brothers, when and when not to ask the Lord for a sign is not a question that I can answer for you.  I just know that there will be times when you feel like you might need a sign from the Lord and you will receive the sign you need.   There will also be times when the Lord will lead you, guide you, and direct your path with no signs and wonders to prove anything but you must make the choice to walk on by faith.  And whatever the case, the truth is that some of us will actually MISS the signs we asked for and even those that were just graciously given to us by the Lord.
Lord,I Need A Sign!
BlogFam,Gideon asked for a sign and the Lord gave him a sign; and after receiving the sign, he realized that it was the Lord.
Gideon replied, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, GIVE ME A SIGN that it is really you talking to me. Please do not go away until I come back and bring my offering and set it before you.”
And the Lord said, “I will wait until you return.”
Gideon went inside, prepared a young goat, and from an ephah of flour he made bread without yeast.Putting the meat in a basket and its broth in a pot, he brought them out and offered them to him under the oak.
The angel of God said to him, “Take the meat and the unleavened bread, place them on this rock, and pour out the broth.” And Gideon did so. Then the angel of the Lord touched the meat and the unleavened bread with the tip of the staff that was in his hand. Fire flared from the rock, consuming the meat and the bread. And the angel of the Lord disappeared. When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the Lord, he exclaimed, “Alas,Sovereign Lord! I HAVE SEEN the angel of the Lord face to face!”
Friends,I know that some of you may not understand all that you have just read.  So let’s suffice it to say – Again, Gideon asked for a sign and the Lord gave him a sign; and after receiving the sign, he realized that it was the Lord.
And after the Lord honored his request through a sign of his presence,
The Lord said to him, “Peace!”
I think this one word answers the question why we ALL at some point look for a sign in the first place.  We ALL want PEACE.  We all want to know that our minds can be clear and our nerves can be settled because of the PEACE we feel when we have made the right, the best, the most likely decision in the moment.  We all want to take comfort in knowing that IF we are going to move forward in the directions that we feel led to go, that we can do so without regret because we have truly honored the Lord and honored whom the Lord has called us to be.
We ALL want PEACE.    We want PEACE and the Lord adds a few other assurances -
The Lord said to him, “Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.”
Friends, that is such GOOD news…especially to Gideon! Gideon is being called to FIGHT, to go to war with the enemies in their land who appear to be mightier than his people. Gideon’s knees might be knocking just a little bit but the Lord lovingly assures Gideon of his presence, of his direction, of his PEACE, and his success!
So Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and called it The Lord is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
BlogFam,  by FAITH, accept the Lord’s signs unto you.  Accept, and do NOT reject what the Lord shows you –even when it does not make sense.  The Lord’s instructions will lead you to PEACE and you will have the confirmation you need.  Just TRUST God!  And DO NOT BE AFRAID!  No matter what battles of life you are facing, YOU SHALL LIVE and NOT DIE!!!
Furthermore,Friends, as you prepare to go forward, at every step of the way from the call to the instructions for your assignment and to the times of preparation for that assignment, I pray that you will “build an altar” – OR in modern times, mark the place where the Lord spoke to you and WORSHIP the Lord wherever you find yourself for being so very GOOD! Gideon built an altar to commemorate this moment with the Lord.  He did not stay there as we will see in the coming verses because he had to carry out his assignment BUT he did give a SIGN to the Lord that he was in agreement with the next step of his life’s journey.
I know that you have been asking for a SIGN from the Lord, but what SIGN or SIGNAL or SIREN or SHOUT have you given to the Lord to show that your heart is in agreement with the Lord?
BlogFam, I hope that YOU will show the Lord a SIGN!
God LOVES You and I Do Too!!!
