Are YOU Serious? Why are YOU Still Talking?

Are You Serious? Why are you still Talking? #bloggingontheGO Copy and Paste Link to LISTEN NOW... Luke 10:29 NIV But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" GREETINGS!!! BlogFam, I am going to do my best to refrain from fully exploring the answer to the second question posed by the expert in this text. Jesus does a phenomenal job in the coming verses and I am looking forward to walking through the parable with you in the days to come... Yet I understand how significant it is to consider the context of every Scriptural reference so we had to start with the verses leading up to the parable including the one verse for our reflection for today. Luke 10:29 NIV But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Over the last few days we have highlighted the expert's desire to TEST Jesus. (PLEASE GO READ THE LAST TWO POSTS ) He asks a question about how to inherit eternal life. Jesus answers his question with a question and in response the expert answers his own original question by reciting The Greatest Commandment - Love GOD, Love Yourself, and Love your Neighbor as you love yourself. "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "DO this and you will live." BUT he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Now the expert's question has been asked and answered by himself in conversation with Jesus and as we see he is still talking! I'm not being mean BlogFam but I am thinking about conversations with people who have received thorough explanations regarding their questions and concerns, YET for some reason what was stated and affirmed in response to their questions and concerns, though full of truth, now requires more. It requires more not because that "expert" does not understand but possibly and more than likely this "expert" is not doing what Jesus says he should be doing in order to live! "You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "DO this and you will live." But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Really? Are you serious? Excuse me sir, why are you still talking? Your question has been asked and YOU, I might add. Jesus told YOU to DO this - Love God, Love Yourself, and Love your Neighbor. BUT he wanted to justify - exculpate, excuse, and exonerate - himself, so he KEEPS ON TALKING and then asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Friends, he does NOT want to know who his neighbor is because he is focused on truly getting to know who his neighbor is....unless his neighbor was limited to his own family and friends. He does not want to know who his neighbor is unless his neighbor is confined to the most familiar spaces he will frequent and will make it therefore convenient to love. He does not want to know who is neighbor is unless, of course, his neighbor fits into the box he had predetermined before this conversation ensued. Friends, he really does not want Jesus to answer this question in any way that will give him a true revelation of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God that Jesus had been preaching heretofore. BUT he wanted to justify HIMSELF, so he just throws out another question in order to continue testing Jesus and to attempt to affirm his lack of responsibility to the mandate of the Gospel..... So he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" Friends, are YOU serious? Why are YOU still talking? Think about it! Its time for a brief moment of self introspection. Do YOU really want or need a more thorough explanation of what it means to Love GOD, Love Yourself, or to Love your Neighbor? Are there questions in your own life that have been asked and CORRECTLY answered by YOU but the truth you are now being forced to face is pushing you into a place you really did not want to go, a ministry in which you really did not want to serve, and maybe even building relationships you did not want to build? Perhaps your desire to keep talking and stop doing or at least limit your doing is simply because you are trying to JUSTIFY YOURSELF, just like this expert. You are still talking because you are actually and intentionally making an effort to TEST Jesus and EXONERATE, EXCUSE, and EXCULPATE yourself from doing what the Lord requires, calls, commands, and commissions YOU to do! So, just like this expert you keep on talking under the guise of prayer, study, praise, and even worship not because your heart is right with GOD but moreso because you are trying your hardest to convey that what you are doing now is good enough and to do more is out of the question! AND to even consider that my neighbor would be someone who who looks, believes, practices, speaks, and worships differently from me is ridiculous! BlogFam, is this you? And be honest because I promise I will not tell anyone. I just want you to be honest and face the truth of your hearts condition and to pray for those who find themselves questioning Jesus in order to justify themselves. My sistas and brothas, today I pray that we would just STOP talking about anything that would keep us from walking by faith. I pray that we would STOP talking as if we do not understand that at some point we must put our faith to work. I pray that we would STOP talking in ways that exonerate, excuse, or exculpate us from serving at our highest and best capacity for the sake of the Kingdom of God! But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" BlogFam, if you just need another answer to one of your questions, including this one.... welllllll, check with us tomorrow!!! LOL!!! GOD LOVES YOU AND I DO TOO!
