PEACE! - John 20:19-21

John 20:19-21
On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “PEACE be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
Again Jesus said, “PEACE be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

PEACE be with YOU!  This is such an appropriate greeting from our Lord in our scripture for today. On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
Jesus did not scold or insult or fuss at them.  Jesus did not state His disappointment with them or express any anger toward them.  Jesus did not even remind them of all the lessons He had previously taught them on trusting in God and walking by faith.  NO!  Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”
In other words, Jesus says, while I know that you deserted me when I needed you most, I greet you in PEACE.  While your present fear has you locked up in a room instead of continuing to do the things I taught you before my death, I still love you and I greet you in PEACE. I know that you need to know that things are OK between us, so I greet you in PEACE.  I know that you have lived beneath your identity as disciples of mine but I still invite you to love and to serve in my name.  My friends, PEACE be with you!
BlogFam, there are so many of us who are locked up spiritually, emotionally, socially, financially, psychologically.  We are locked up because we are scared of what others might want to do to attack us.  We live in fear of what might or might not happen and we keep ourselves locked up instead of walking in the authority of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.  Jesus found His disciples locked up in a room because they were scared of what the Jewish authorities might want to do to them.  AND Jesus appears in the midst of their self-created jail cell and declares the PEACE of God. PEACE be with YOU!
My friends, today, PEACE be with YOU! Our Lord is speaking PEACE into all of the ways you have locked yourself into a corner because of fear of what others might say or do to you instead of walking by faith and doing the work that our God has assigned for you to do.  TODAY, may you be released by the PEACE of God to do the work of the Kingdom of God.  TODAY,our Lord will meet you where you are and bring you out of hiding.  TODAY, our Lord will assure you of His presence in your life.  He will show you what you need to see so that you will know that it is Him.  To the disciples, Jesus showed them His hands and his side and the disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. AND –
Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” In other words, disciples, it is time for you to come out of hiding!  I greet you in PEACE in order to assure you of our relationship and I now send you forth in PEACE in order for you to complete the assignment of this next season.  My sistas and brothas, whether you need PEACE to assure you or PEACE to clarify your next assignment, I pray that on today,PEACE be with you!
I know that you know that having PEACE is a desirable state of being.  I also recognize that some of you are wondering how PEACE can exist in the midst of all the drama and confusion, heartache and pain that seems to be the rule in your life in this season.  And to all of you, I declare the words of our Lord again – PEACE be with you!
PEACE is not simply the absence of chaos or confusion, drama or disarray.  PEACE is not simply the lack of chatter or clatter, heartache or heartbreak.  PEACE is not simply the nonexistence of pain or pressure, storms and rain.  PEACE is more than that.  PEACE be with you!
PEACE is the stabilizing presence of the Almighty God that soothes our doubts and calms our fears.  PEACE is the internal rest of the soul that is one with God and one with self.  PEACE is the blessed assurance that comes from surrendering to the will of God in our lives.  PEACE is the signature of the Holy Spirit.  PEACE be with you!
BlogFam, on today, I pray that the presence of our Lord would show up in unexpected places and in surprising ways and that His PEACE would overwhelm you.  I pray that the PEACE of God would release you from the self-created prisons you have grown too comfortable in so that you can be free to walk in the center of God’s will as the Lord sends you forth to do a great work in this world.  I pray that on today the PEACE of God would greet you and grant you the courage to be sent forth by God.  I pray that you would seek and share the PEACE of God as you go and if you ever find yourself or someone else imprisoned by fear, I pray that you would speak PEACE and by the grace of God may you all be set FREE!
God Loves You and I do too!
