(LOL!) And if I just had to choose a sport that I do actually enjoy watching and/ or a sporting event I like to attend, I would select football and in a very distant second place, I would choose basketball. I also enjoy attending hockey games and I will watch the Olympics - winter and summer games. I am not a baseball fan. I do understand the basics of the game but I am not a fan. One day, I was talking to one of my brothers who is a sports enthusiast and has advised me on many occasions regarding the calls of referees, the strategies of coaches, and the skills of certain players. I asked him a question about baseball. I asked him why the role of catcher is so important in baseball. A catcher is the player stationed behind home plate, whose chief duty is to catch pitches not hit by the batter. to me, that position did not look like a big deal. yet, he explained to me how the catcher was able to offer a perspective of the game that the pitcher, the players on the bases, and those in the outfield could not see. The catcher shares his perspective with the pitcher using signals that give insight to his other teammates, especially the pitcher that could only be observed because of his position. A catcher's position is so much more than catching missed pitches. Friends, I admit that I did not understand the critical role of catcher in baseball. Yet, I am so glad that my brother's insight helped me to better understand the catcher's role and that role is illustrative of our verses for today. Jude 24-25 To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy - To the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen. BlogFam, of the many things that the Holy One is to us, the Holy One is a keeper and a catcher! Our Lord is ABLE to keep us form falling and our Lord is able to catch us when we fall. AND in all situations of life, the Holy One is able to offer a perspective of our life that nobody else is able to see because of where they are positioned. Have you ever experienced God as a KEEPER? Has the Lord blocked certain relationships or what you thought might have been a "blessing" and later realized that the Lord had kept you from a danger seen or perhaps unseen? Have you ever experienced God as a keeper from accidents, pitfalls, or stumbling blocks that could have ruined your life or at least hindered your progress? Have you ever experienced God as a keeper when you just had a feeling that you just needed to be still in your actions or silent in your conversations and you were so glad that you did? Have you ever experienced God as a KEEPER? Have ever experienced God as a CATCHER? has the Mighty One ever caught you after you did choose to go a way that was out of line with His will, His word, or His way? Has the Lord ever caught you after throwing you a hint int eh Spirit that you ignored about what you should do, where you should go, or what you should say? Have you ever experienced God as a catcher who has stood in your place to shield you from the tactics of those who might try to take advantage of your position on the field of life? Have you ever experienced God as a CATCHER? As we continue our 40 day fast journey, I know that there will be moments when w choose to compromise our commitments. When this happens, we should repent, recommit, and move on. I am clear that God is ABLE to keep us; however, when we do mis opportunities to stay focused and to stand firm, the Lord will catch us and by His grace, we will be given another opportunity to stay in the game! I am also excited that when we miss and when we fall, the Lord is able to offer a perspective on the game of life that we will only get when we seek Him. My sistas and brothas, today, I pray that you would come to know our God as your keeper and your catcher. I pray that during this season of fasting you would NOT hesitate to ask the Lord to KEEP YOU FROM FALLING and if you do fall, I pray that you would NOT hesitate to pray Lord, CATCH ME! There are miracles that happen when the Lord exercises His ability to keep us and to catch us. We experience the grace of God in ways that remind us that God has a perspective of our lives that we must seek in every situation. This grace will keep us from falling and this grace will catch us when we fall. AND beyond that, for reasons I have yet to understand, this same grace will present us before his glorious presence WITHOUT fault and with GREAT JOY! HALLELUJAH! To the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord who will keep us and who will catch us, before all ages, now and forevermore!
