![]() ELEVATE Me: Lord, Take Me Up! Psalm 27:10 Though my father and mother forsake me,
the LORD will receive me. When my
father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.[KJV] Click Logo to LISTEN NOW! Greetings! BlogFam, throughout this 40 day journey, I hope that
you would keep the main thing, the main thing.
It is so easy to get distracted or discouraged when you focus on the
number of days you have left or what you feel like you might be missing out on
because of your fast. However, I want us
to stay focused and to just take it one day at a time. Unfortunately, it will seem as if the greatest
deterrents to fasting will come from those who are closest to you. Some of you are married or you have children
or you will be gathering with family and close friends; and knowing the stand
you are taking during this season, they may ignore your commitment and try to
push you to put your fasting focus aside for one meal or one conversation or
one shopping excursion or one something or another. Friends, STAY FOCUSED and just take it one
day at a time, sometimes, one hour at a time. In our scripture for today, the Psalmist expresses an
intense longing for the presence of God in his life. He is not shy about what he needs the Lord
God to do for him at this time in his life. Hear my voice when I call, LORD;
be merciful to me and answer me. My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
Your face, LORD, I will seek. Do not hide your face from me,
do not turn your servant away in anger;
you have been my helper.
Do not reject me or forsake me,
God my Savior. Though my father and mother forsake me,
the LORD will receive me. He wants the
Lord to listen to him, be merciful to him, answer him, make God’s self
available to him, to keep him close, to help him, to embrace him, to accept
him, to remember him, and to receive him.
He is asking the Lord for a lot!
But don’t we do the same? We ask
the Lord for a lot and the intensity of our prayers can vary depending on the
details of the situation, but in each situation, we are expecting our God to be
EVERYTHING we need God to be and then some… BlogFam, that is OK.
The Lord, desires for all of us to Call on Him and to Seek Him in every
situation of our lives – including when we fast. Along this journey, each day will present
different challenges. We will come face
to face with the true conditions of our hearts and God will also reveal the
truth about others – including those closest to us. And please know that all that God allows us
to see is for our good. During this time of fasting, we must intensify every
aspect of our life with God. We must
take our prayers, our thoughts, our worship, our giving, our conversations, our
EVERYTHING to another level! We must
rise above the distractions and refuse to be discouraged as we go and grow through
this period of fasting. Furthermore, when you feel like those who are closest
to you have forsaken you. When you feel
like they are not praying with you. When
you feel like they are not supporting your commitment to sacrifice. THEN the Lord, will receive you! The Lord, will TAKE YOU UP! During this fast, BlogFam, ask the Lord, to TAKE YOU
UP! Ask the Lord to take you up OUT of
mess – OUT of fear – OUT of selfishness – OUT of laziness – OUT of anything
that is not like Him, anything that has hindered your witness or your walk with
Christ up to this point. AND then ask
the Lord to take you up INTO a deeper faith – INTO a greater love – INTO peace
of mind – INTO a more forgiving heart – INTO anything that will allow the Light
of Christ to shine brightly through you! Today, I pray that the Lord would TAKE YOU UP! I pray that you would follow the example of
this Psalmist and call on the Lord, seek the Lord, and trust the Lord to listen
to you, be merciful to you, to answer you, to make God’s self available to you,
to keep you close, to help you, to embrace you, to accept you, to remember you,
and to receive you. I pray that you
would ask God for a lot so that you would experience God in a lot of ways. And
when you are tempted to turn from your fast for any reason, even if in the presence
of those closest to you, I pray that you would remember and say this simple
prayer - Lord, TAKE ME UP! ![]() Black History Month – Quote of the Day: Racial superiority is a mere pigment of the
