![]() Greetings! BlogFam, today we will begin a new series. The name of this series is THE KEY OF LOVE. Throughout this series, I will introduce to some and present to others a different musical term or instrument everyday. That musical term or instrument will provide an illustrative structure for my reflection on the scripture for that particular day. I am really excited about this new series! I cannot wait to share with you what our God has shared with me. I believe this will provide for us fresh insights into the scripture by incorporating something that is familiar to ALLof us – music. I pray that we will learn and grow together. I LOVE MUSIC! Music has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. My whole family –parents, brothers, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. - seems to be musically inclined. While I was growing up, I did take piano lessons for a few years and I played the flute throughout grade school. However, you do not want to ask me to play either one of those instruments today. [LOL!] My instrument of choice lies within. It is my voice. I LOVE TO SING! Singing brings me such JOY! I also appreciate different genres of music. I obviously cannot play and I do not profess to be able to sing all of the genres I enjoy. Gospel is the genre to which I most relate. I love singing Gospel music! I have been singing in a Gospel church, community or school choir my whole life. I cannot say that I am partial to every Gospel song that exists or every artist. I do have my favorites as most people possess with any genre of music. Now there are many things that I could say about Gospel music, or music in general but today I want to lay a foundation for where we are going over the next few days or weeks. For there is at least ONE thing that ALL of the songs of those dozens of musical genres have in common. ALL of the songs start in a certain key. They do NOT all start in the same key but EVERY song we listen, dance, sway, party, relax, rock, or sleep to begins in a certain key which is set by the Composer. There is a key that the Composer feels would best express what he or she wanted to express when they set their words or notes to a particular pattern for us to enjoy. Their selection of keys range from A to G. Now, you might choose to reinterpret the Composer’s vision by changing the key to better suit the particularities of your situation but you must at least acknowledge that the key you selected was not the original intent of the Composer. Unfortunately, in life, there are too many of us trying to reinterpret the vision of the original Composer. The original Composer of the universe and all of our lives began in the KEY OF LOVE. ![]() And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. Now, I know that some of you are thinking - Wait a second! The word LOVE is not mentioned in this passage! The word LOVE may not itself be used but it does not mean that LOVE is not present. READ it again.... LOVE is the very premise of creation in this story. How is love expressed in this passage of scripture? The original Composer chose to create a being that would be able to receive and share the divine with creation. It has been said that: Imitation is the highest form of flattery. However, I am clear that the Creator of the universe did not need more flattery. ALL of heaven was and is on one accord with every note and rhythm that is set in worship around the throne of God! ALL of heaven worships God without breaking tempo and without any scratchy voices. The orchestra and choir are in sync and there are nothing but encore presentations. Yet, for some reason, in the wisdom of our heavenly Composer, we were created to imitate the ways of He who sits on the throne. We were created in the image of the one who is LOVE. We were created to imitate God’s loving melodies and harmonies in relationship with all of humanity, creatures great and small in the sea, in the air, and on the land, and to care for that which comes from the seeds in the earth. We were created to imitate the LOVE of God. LOVE is our key and under no circumstances are we to reinterpret the original Composer's vision by changing keys to fit the particularities of our personal situations. BlogFam, are you living your life in the KEY OF LOVE? As we continue this series, I pray that you would daily reflect on these questions – Am I in the right key? Am I living my life in the key that God intended? Am I in sync with the original Composer of my life? When people hear about my life, is my testimony that they hear the KEY OF LOVE?
