![]() Greetings! On yesterday, I finished reading a book entitled, TheGiver, by Lois Lowry. I highly recommend it. Now, I do not want to give it away but this clever writing tells the tale of a boy named Jonas, who was selected to hold the most honorable position in his community. This position required that he carry the pain, the past, and the transgressions of the entire community. As I reflected on the role of Jonas when I finished, my thoughts quickly connected Jonas to Jesus who also bore the pain, the past and the transgressions of the entire world community. Philippians 2:5-11 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. I know that this is not one of the traditional scriptures we read at Christmas. It makes no specific reference to Gabriel’sannouncement, the Virgin Birth, Bethlehem, the Shepherds in the field, the lowly Manger, or the Wise Men who travelled from afar. However, it is a glorious picture of the love our Lord had when in obedience to His Father – he left the wonders of heaven to come to save the wanderers of earth. It is from this thought that I share my prayer with you today. Let us pray... A CHRISTMAS PRAYER By Delesslyn A. Kennebrew Most Holy One – I humbly approach your throne of grace in this season that we celebrate Your Son as a gift to the world. We ask that your mind would be in us. Your mind of holiness, hope, healing, and help is what we need to be like You. In humility, you graciously stepped out of the realm of glory to take upon yourself, the form of a servant in human flesh moving in time and space. Jesus, You walked the earth. You taught, healed, and lived in obedience even unto death, the excruciating death of the cross. Be exalted, Oh God! We reverence your name as above every name and as your name is proclaimed by those who believe, every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. IN JESUS NAME, Amen. BlogFam,Please feel free to add to this prayer in the comments… Many Blessings to you! God Loves You and I do too!
