BlogFam, I have a question.
What do you see as your divine assignment in THIS season?
Please notice that the word assignment is singular, not plural.
What is the ONE thing that God is calling for you to do or to prepare for or to become or to change or to shift or to walk away from in THIS season?
This is a very important question. It is the question that could change your life as you know it. I know this to be true because I have lived it and I am living it right now. My life is changing as we speak.
In different seasons of my life, I feel compelled to ask the Lord about the next move. I never want to get to the place where I am just going through the motions in my life, ministry, career, or relationships to the point where I am not living out of my own passion for life. YES, I know that there are some tasks associated with the divine assignment of the season that are mundane and less than intellectually stimulating but are necessary for the fulfillment of the assignment. I am not referring to those things. I am intentionally referring to the ONE thing that God is calling for you to do, the ONE place God is calling for you to be, the ONE change God is calling for you to make in THIS season. I am inviting you to press pause before you get too far into 2017 and ask the Lord:
Lord, what is my divine assignment in THIS season?
In the 27th Psalm, the psalmist says:
I have asked ONE thing from the Lord—
it’s ALL I seek:
to live in the Lord’s house all the days of my life,
seeing the Lord’s beauty
and constantly adoring his temple. [Psalm 27:4]
No one can answer that question for you. You must ask the Lord and you may or may not be ready for the Lord's answer.
There have been times when I have asked that very question and I was overwhelmed with a sense of peace because I had sensed that the ONE thing was inevitable and the Lord's response was simply confirmation. But there are other times, when I have inquired of the Lord and I felt scared or less than motivated or indifferent. But every time I always knew in my heart of hearts that the ONE thing the Lord was calling for in that season was always the BEST thing.
Friends, the psalmist ONE thing was to live in the house of the Lord all the days of their life. And while, I want to do that on a certain level, spiritually speaking, I am clear that my ONE thing is a little different, tailored, customized to fit me and ALL that God has created [and is creating] me to be. The same is true for you. Your divine assignment is for YOU to do. it is designed with your personality, gifts, experiences, education, skills, talent, maturity, and so much more in the mind of God. God knows exactly who God is calling for every assignment and we just have to listen, trust, and obey.
So, BlogFam, I pray that you would have the courage to pursue your ONE thing one day, one step, one prayer at a time. I pray that you would not let the fear of the unknown hinder your progress. I pray that as you open your mouth and your heart to ask the Lord this question, I also pray that you would open your heart and your ears to receive the answer... whatever it might be. And then, DO IT! Do your ONE thing!
Friends, I pray ALL the same for me. ONE thing. That's ALL.
Blessings, Glory, and sunshine!
