BlogFam, I do not know if this post is just for me to process my thoughts from my morning devotion or not, but I do know that in response to my reading of Psalm 139:1-12, the assigned reading for the 2016 My Vision Fast [www.MyVisionFast.com], I felt compelled to write a reflection.
Beloved, I think I was just reminded of how completely and totally transparent our lives are to God. Honestly, I think that there are many times that I am very aware of the omnipresence of God but then, I must totally have a relapse in my comprehension of this truth. I say this because I have said, done and thought some things that did not reflect my awareness of the everyday, all day presence of God in my own life. What about you? Are there some things that you have said, done, or thought that you did not at all factor in the all seeing eye and ear of God? I know you have. We all have had slips in judgment that did not reflect that our lives are totally transparent before God.
Friends, there are NO closets or attics or boxes or garages or security boxes or secret passwords or any other kinds of things that we use to hide our stuff from others in God. God really does know EVERYTHING about our lives. Check out these verses from Psalm 139...
1 Lord, you have examined me.
You know me.
2 You know when I sit down and when I stand up.
Even from far away, you comprehend my plans.
3 You study my traveling and resting.
You are thoroughly familiar with all my ways.
4 There isn’t a word on my tongue, Lord,
that you don’t already know completely.
5 You surround me—front and back.
You put your hand on me.
6 That kind of knowledge is too much for me;
it’s so high above me that I can’t fathom it.
7 Where could I go to get away from your spirit?
Where could I go to escape your presence?
8 If I went up to heaven, you would be there.
If I went down to the grave, you would be there too!
9 If I could fly on the wings of dawn,
stopping to rest only on the far side of the ocean—
even there your strong hand would hold me tight!
11 If I said, “The darkness will definitely hide me;
the light will become night around me,”
12 even then the darkness isn’t too dark for you!
Nighttime would shine bright as day,
because darkness is the same as light to you!
BlogFam, do you see what I mean? Total Transparency. I wonder how different our lives would be if we really cared about this truth. I wonder how much more impactful our witness would be to the world or just to our neighbor or family member or co-worker or classmate if we lived our lives knowing that God IS indeed fully aware of our every thought, word, and action. I wonder how much more expansive or how much smaller our churches would be if total transparency before God was how we operated.
Friends, as I am writing this, it is Monday morning and God knows, I was not thinking about diving in this deep so early in the week. LOL! BUT when the scripture speaks so clearly and pricks the heart so intensely, I could not just leave it there. I was compelled to write this brief reflection and to now pray - LORD, HAVE MERCY and FORGIVE ME for all the times that I did not consider your presence in my life! Lord, there is no where that I can go to hide from you for even the darkness isn't too dark for you. Lord, help me to be more fully aware of your presence in my life so that what you see and hear from this vessel is a totally transparent and fully surrendered witness of your love. IN JESUS NAME...
GOD LOVES YOU and I DO TOO!
Blessings, Glory, and Sunshine!
