It's PRAYER Time, NOT SHOW Time!

Greetings!

BlogFam,
We are continuing our BEST PRACTICES Series, so let's just jump right into our scripture for today...

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. [Matthew 6:5-8]

Friends, it's PRAYER time and not SHOW time!  That is the word of the Lord for all of us today.  It is time to run away from any temptation to perform any kind of spiritual practice under the disguise of being a blessing or with the audacity to selfishly display your gifts for the acknowledgement of others.  Have you ever sat through a time of prayer or "praise" for that matter, and for some reason the moment felt so empty or dry or even distancing?  Well, you probably were not the only one feeling some kind of way in that particular moment.  I have certainly experienced this and what I have learned is that the leader of the prayer or praise is actually spiritually empty, dry, or distant themselves.  AND while there are moments where the Holy Spirit will not allow the people to suffer due to the neglect of the leader to nurture their own spiritual walk, there are also moments when the congregation feels the effects of that leader's immaturity, laziness, or neutrality in their relationship with God.  The overcompensation for one's lack of personal devotion is simply a ridiculous effort to publicly camouflage one's own hypocrisy.

Friends, I know this might sound harsh but re-read the verses above.  God is so much more concerned with how you live your life in private because what you do in private and what you do not do in private will influence how you minister in public.  It is PRAYER time, not SHOW time!  It is time for all of us to take our prayer lives to another level AT HOME and not wait for the platform, stage, microphone, or an audience to put our faith on display.  There has to be such a major let down after one has showed out in public knowing that the Lord was far from them.  I know that there have been times when I have had to shift or shut up because I knew in my spirit that the grace extended to me for the moment had reached a stopping point.  I do my best to be so sensitive to the movement of the Holy Spirit and I have missed the mark but I am striving everyday to be on target.  I cannot imagine living totally dependent on my gifts or on the accolades of people who say they appreciate my gifts but will stab me in the back as soon as I sit down.

BlogFam, it is PRAYER time and not SHOW time!  We do not need you to entertain us with your prayer or your praise any more.  Get a real prayer life!  And stop faking your faith in public!  We are over it!  Let the glory of the LORD rise among us...

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. [Matthew 6:5-8]

My sisters and brothers, It is PRAYER time and not SHOW time!

God LOVES You and I DO Too!
Blessings, Glory, and Sunshine!
Delesslyn
