Our HIGHEST Regards...

Greetings!

BlogFam -

I feel like so much has happened in the last few weeks since I have written, but please know that I have not forgotten about you and I continue to lift you up in my prayers.

We are continuing in the Book of Isaiah.
So let me start by asking you this.  Do you know of certain connections that you have or had in the past that were very good for you or very bad for you?  And can you name a few reasons why those connections fell into either one of those categories?  Take a moment and think about this.

I can tell you that there have been connections that I have made throughout my life that have been very good and very bad.  And the reasons run the gambit.  I know that I have wanted to be connected to certain people for different reasons and those connections have not always turned out for the best.  Thankfully, none of them landed me in jail or strung out on drugs or passed out in a room with no recollection of the previous nights events.  BUT I have been connected to people where I have spent too much time, money, emotional energy, and even social capital to gain something I thought I needed or to feel something I thought was lacking at the time.

What about you?
I know I am not the only one who has or who has at least been tempted to connect with people who glitter on the outside with their social popularity, intriguing talents, smooth talk, fancy makeup, fast cars, upwardly mobile careers, or  even their two step shout in church BUT have learned that everyONE that glitters is NOT gold.  Everyone who looks and sounds good to us is not always good to us or for us.  And YES all of our eyes will play tricks on us every now and then if we are not careful!

Friends, we have to be so very intentional to connect with people who LOVE God first.
That does not mean you are not kind and cordial to everyone.  It just means that those to whom you commit yourself to being in a personal relationship with for any amount of time or purpose, must endure some kind of additional screening.

In Isaiah 8:11-13, the prophet is forewarned about his alliances and that same word is for us today:
11 For this is what the Lord said to me with great power, to keep me from going the way of this people:
12 Do not call everything an alliance
these people say is an alliance.
Do not fear what they fear;
do not be terrified.
13 You are to regard only the Lord of Hosts as holy.
Only He should be feared;
Only He should be held in awe.

BlogFam, we can admire the qualities of others without having to be connected to them in deep personal relationships.  The ONLY person we should hold in the HIGHEST regard is our Lord.  He is the only one who is HOLY and He is the only one who should be feared or held in awe.  I really do believe if we took a moment to re-prioritize the place of people in our lives and put the Lord FIRST, I think our perspective of the people we have as number 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 might shift.

Friends, for whom do you hold the HIGHEST regard?
And who is right under them on your list of personal relationships?

Today, I pray that you would take a few minutes to check in with yourself and re-prioritize your own relationships so that the LORD is always first and those who come right after Him, LOVE the Lord, LOVE You and have your best interest in mind at all times!

GOD LOVES YOU and I DO TOO!
Blessings, Glory, and Sunshine!
Delesslyn
