Come Up to the Mountain!

Greetings!

BlogFam, This past weekend was a wonderful roller coaster ride of new and exhilarating and encouraging experiences!  It is my desire to eventually start a non-profit organization and based on my research, it is highly recommended that those of us with the desire to do so, should first spend time "working" the programs that you want to run through your non-profit to see if there is any interest and potential supporters before investing in the time, energy, and money in pursuing the 501(c) 3 tax status.  So, that is my plan for 2015.  This year, I am working the programs that I want to run through my future non-profit for these reasons and more so this past weekend was a major kick off for THE WOVEN MINISTRY NETWORK!  WOVEN stands for Women Operating Victoriously through Empowerment and Networking. [Feel free to join the Facebook Group TODAY https://www.facebook.com/groups/WOVENMinistryNetwork]

I said all of that to say that at my final event for the weekend, my team hosted the FIRST My Vision Fast Retreat for young ladies ages 18-25.  The theme was "You Are Naomi's Daughter: Believe. Belong. Become."  It was a half day retreat at which we hosted various sessions that included laughter, tears, deep conversation, silence, journaling, worship, and fellowship.  At the last session, we planned a Q & A with the mentors of the retreat who were on the panel.  In the course of conversation, one young lady said she had never been baptized.  We paused.  A retreat participant that was seated next to her repeated what she said to make sure we heard the statement.  And almost instinctively, I knew that before I explore her baptism, I needed to know if she had ever accepted Jesus as her Savior.

I asked the young lady had she ever accepted Jesus as her Savior and she said no.  I asked her if she wanted to do so today.  She said Yes and the conversation, in front of the group, went on from there.  In that unscripted moment, the Lord was knocking on the door of her heart and she wanted to answer and we welcomed her into the family of God.  It was an absolutely glorious moment and movement of the Holy Spirit.  I am so glad that  we were all able to accept the invitation of Christ in that moment and adjust our schedules to make sure that that one young lady's heart was right with God.  She was ready and we all said YES!

I began to think about the many times we assume that just because people are at church or at church-y functions, that those people are in relationship with Jesus Christ.  Lord, FORGIVE ME for skipping over or dismissing the invitations you have extended to others through my life and ministry.  I cannot deny that there have been times when I thought, I will just pray for them...later but I will not directly confront their soul's eternal destiny.  I know I have got to do better and I bet you do too.

Friends, I am further inspired by our verses for today in the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 2:2-3...

In the last days
the mountain of the Lord’s house will be established
at the top of the mountains
and will be raised above the hills.
All nations will stream to it,
and many peoples will come and say,
“Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,
to the house of the God of Jacob.
He will teach us about His ways
so that we may walk in His paths."

Friends, when is the last time you invited someone to church or to Christ?
When is the last time you invited someone to "COME, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord?"

Unfortunately, we all have had countless missed opportunities to extend or accept the invitation to go up the mountain of the Lord, to be taught His ways so that we may walk in His paths.  I pray that on today, you would be more attentive to those Holy moments when the Lord is inviting YOU to come a little closer, go a little higher, dig a little deeper in Him.  I also pray that we would stop assuming that everyone in our circle or our church or office or grocery store or any other place we might frequent, is walking in the path of the Lord.  I pray that we would be more than willing to be flexible with our agendas, schedules, calendars and appointments in order to extend the invitation to someone else to be taught about the love of the Lord.  I pray that we would open our mouths to answer the question - What must I do to be saved? AND that we would never be ashamed to share our own witness of life in Christ.

BlogFam, COME UP TO THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD!!!
I want to meet you there... and PLEASE bring someone else with you!!!

GOD LOVES YOU and I DO TOO!!!
Blessings, Glory, and Sunshine!
Delesslyn A. Kennebrew
