#ONEWord - ORDER

#ONEWord - ORDER

2 Kings 20:1-6

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”
2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, Lord, how I have walkedbefore you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
4 Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him: 5 “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord. 6 I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’”

7 Then Isaiah said, “Prepare a poultice of figs.” They did so and applied it to the boil, and he recovered.

Greetings!!!
BlogFam,
I actually began writing this post on last week but as I now reflect on this passage, I had to really back all the way up.  I had to put the brakes on myself.  I did so because I was just going to enter the series by using #ONEWord to summarize this entire passage.  However, as I come back to this passage with fresh eyes, I am going in the same but still a different direction.  Instead of summarizing the entire passage with #ONEWord, I am now going to continue my usual practice of walking through the passage, maybe verse by verse or phrase by phrase in order to see what the Lord would have for me to share with you.

Now, with all of that said and since you have already read the passage above, I want to take you all the way back to the very first verse.

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”

What a word!

The first word I want to reflect on is actually the part before the declaration of death... PUT YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER!

ORDER.

Order is our first word.

Now, I know the verse continues but the very first thing the prophet tells the King is to Get you and your affairs together!  I think that is a word for ALL of us.  ORDER.  I have a question...

Is your house in ORDER?

And I mean that on a number of levels.  As you look at your own life, what is out of place, in chaos and shambles, needs to be fixed, replaced, or let go?  Is your house in ORDER?

I know that you were probably not expecting me to come from this angle.  BlogFam, but I also know how easy it is to cover up and act like all is well in front of everyone, including those who are closest to you and on today, I just want to encourage you to PUT YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER!

Some of you are so used to handling everybody else's business and avoiding yours.
Some of you are so used to lying and faking it until you make it so much so that you might not even recognize that you have already arrived in this season of your life.
Some of you are just stuck in your past and the pain thereof and until you allow the Lord to heal your broken heart, you will remain grief stricken and an emotional basket case.

Friends, GET IT TOGETHER and PUT YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER!

What are you waiting on?  OR should I say WHO?  When will the time ever be right or perfect for you to put your life in ORDER?

The first person with whom you need to make sure you are in order with is GOD.  When you are in ORDER with GOD then I promise you that everything and everyone in your life will fall into place.  When you seek to align your whole life with GOD, the Lord our God will ORDER your steps in the direction of the Almighty's purpose and will for your life.... kind of like this blog post.  When I started writing it the other day, I stopped in the middle of my process and when I came back to it, I was redirected in another way.  And I really am OK with that because I believe that it is God's ORDER for the reflections that I share with you in my blog.

BlogFam, I am not sure when you will read this and it does not matter how soon or how much later you will read this post from the time I wrote it.  All I know is that when you read it, check yourself. Ask yourself - Is my life in ORDER?  Start with your relationship with God and then you will have a godly perspective for how to put in ORDER the rest of your life.

My friends, PUT YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER... something is coming and you have got to be ready!

GOD LOVES YOU and I DO TOO!!!
