BEWARE: Miracles are Happening Beyond This Point!

BEWARE: Miracles are Happening Beyond This Point!

Luke 8:51 NIV

When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother.

Greetings!

BlogFam,

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you already know that I am generally scared of dogs. Now, I must say that I have been introduced to some really friendly dogs over the years; but I have also been chased in my dreams and in real life by some pretty mean ones so I am sympahetic with those who love their dogs but I am not emphatic about having a dog of my own. I know that all dogs are different and have different temperaments and personalities, just like people, but I am OK with maintaining a healthy respect for ALL dogs at a distance.

Some dog owners have even pre-determined the distance myself and others need to have from their dog[s]. Have you ever seen a sign on a fence that said: BEWARE OF DOG? When I see that kind of sign on a fence, my curiosity is not peaked. I am not interested in seeing or hearing this dog about which I have already been forewarned. There is obviously a reason the owner thinks we need to proceed with caution toward their property and the warning that their doggy protection is standing guard is a major clue. I respect that warning and that is one boundary that I do not need to disrespect because I am not ineterested in having an encounter with a dog about which I have already been forewarned.

As I read today's passage, I am reminded of those BEWARE OF DOG signs. I am reminded of those signs because while the fence establishes the boundary, the sign adds a hint of intimidation to passersby because we know that the sign is a warning, a threat, if you will, that there is something beyond the boundary that you may not appreciate or celebrate.

When Jesus arrived at the house of Jairus, Jesus put up a BEWARE sign of sorts. Jesus did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother. His "sign" was in the form of a restricted invitation to witness a miracle. And, in essence, Jesus tells everyone else who has followed him there or who had been waiting for him to arrive, you are not welcome to come beyond the boundary of the door established by this house. And ONLY those whom Jesus invited into the house were "ready" to witness the miracles that were happening beyond the door.

BlogFam, this is a lesson for all of us. As open as we might want to be to "ALL" people, there are certain situations in our lives for which we must put up BEWARE signs. There are people who are NOT ready to handle the miracles that are happning in certain areas and certain relationships in our lives. In this passage, Jesus only invited two sets of people beyond the boundary of the door to the house. He invited three of his disciples and the child's parents. He invited LOVE into the room. He invited people who loved Him and He invited people who loved this little girl.

BEWARE: Miracles are Happening Beyond This Point!

BlogFam, just like dog owners warn visitors with the sign on their fence about their dog, we, too, like Jesus, must establish boundaries by faith and in love. We must establish boundaries that will limit who can come into the heart of certain personal situations to pray with us and to witness the miracles that God has for us. The truth is that there are people we know, people whom we can name, who will need to just see the miracle after the fact and who cannot handle the process in advance. Those who laugh at your faith or those who cry as if all hope is lost, cannot be invited into those senseitive spaces in your life. Your invitation to pray and possibly even to wait with you until your miracle comes must be restricted to those who LOVE the Lord and those who genuinely LOVE you.

I know that some of you might be thinking, you want as many people to pray with you as you can get. I know that some of you think that I am being too harsh by encouraging you to limit the exposure of your preayer concern. I feel you and I understand your perspective. BUT the truth is this:

When JESUS arrived at the house of Jairus, he did NOT let anyone go in with him EXCEPT Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother.

And if the Lord found it wise to restrict the invitation to those who LOVE the Lord and LOVE the child, how much more do we need to be mindful of those whom we invite to pray with us and to witness the miracles of our lives?

Friends, BEWARE: Miracles are Happening Beyond THIS Point in your life but you must know that everybody is not praying and everybody will not wait for you to get your miracle. This might be a hard pill to swallow, to think that there are people you know or people with whom you are acquainted who are not eligible to enter into spaces in your prayer life as it relates to particular situations. Everyone was NOT invited into the house/room of that little girl. Everyone should NOT be invited beyond certain boundaries in your life because of their lack of love for God and their lack of love for you OR their lack of faith to believe that God is ABLE to render a miracle in your life OR due to their own unwillingness to wait with you for God to do what only God is able to do. There are those who will laugh at you and those who will cry with you and you must have the courage to put up your BEWARE sign so that you can focus and not be distracted by those who do not believe or those who think it is a joke that you do.

When JESUS arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother.

BlogFam - BEWARE: Miracles are going to hapen beyond this point in your life AND everybody you know cannot go in with you!
