The Privileges of being DEVOTED to God - Psalm 91:14-16

The Privileges of being DEVOTED to God
Psalms 91:14-16 CEB
God says,
"Because you are devoted to me,
I’ll rescue you.
I’ll protect you
because you know my name.
Whenever you cry out to me,
I’ll answer.
I’ll be with you in troubling times.
I’ll save you and glorify you.
I’ll fill you full with old age.
I’ll show you my salvation."

Greetings!
BlogFam, I have a question that only you can answer. ARE YOU DEVOTED TO GOD? The answer is either yes or no.  And it is so important that you have an answer to my question.  It is important because I am very clear that there are some of you, or maybe people you know, who greatly yet inappropriately expect to be the recipients of the benefits of this entire passage of Psalm 91, in particular our verses for today.  Do not be surprised!  This is not unusual.

People have wanted the benefits of heaven without devotion to the God of heaven since the beginning of time.  Who wouldn't?  When the windows of heaven open to pour out blessings, none of us have room enough to receive!  Besides, we see this kind of unfounded expectation in relationships every day - Men and women, boys and girls, wanting, desiring, and yes even expecting favors, hook ups, privileges, and benefits for which they have done nothing to deserve.  I am not saying that your actions will not guarantee that you will be privy to what God is able to provide in this passage, but I am saying that if your heart is not devoted to the Most High, then your expectations of the privileges you have read today really do not apply to you.

There is one condition that must be met and whether that condition has been met is reflected in your response to my opening question... ARE YOU DEVOTED TO GOD?
God says,
"Because you are DEVOTED to me,
I’ll rescue you.
I’ll protect you
because you know my name.
Whenever you cry out to me,
I’ll answer.
I’ll be with you in troubling times.
I’ll save you and glorify you.
I’ll fill you full with old age.
I’ll show you my salvation."

ALL because you are DEVOTED to Me.

So what does it mean to be devoted?

To be DEVOTED to God...is to be zealous – enthusiastic - ardent – fervent - passionate in attachment, loyalty, or affection to GOD.  This a matter of the heart.  This is the non-negotiable prerequisite requirement to you "claiming" what the psalmist has recorded as the promises of God to those who are devoted to God.   Simply and only when your heart is devoted to God can you expect supernatural rescue, protection, hearing, responding, presence, glory, continuous salvation from now until you are filled with old age.

And having read this passage a few times now,  if none of these benefits are of any concern to you... well I pray that the grace of God would be extended to you to receive in spite of yourself.  I pray that you would come to know God as the one who loves you first and foremost and as the one who is the most dependable presence in your life.  I pray that you would forsake all counterfeit replicas of satisfaction in which you currently indulge or to whom you turn to fill the void in your heart that only God can fill.  I am praying that your expectations would be realistic and correspond to the level of your faith in the one whose grace and mercy towards you has already exceeded and will continue to exceed your every expectation.

On the other hand, if you just so happen to expect to be a recipient of such blessings, I pray that your heart is deeply devoted to the one from whom all blessings flow.  I pray that you would readily and frequently experience God's promises to you and all who are DEVOTED to God. And I pray that by the grace of God your devotion would please the Lord our God and inspire someone else to do the same.
God says,
"Because you are devoted to me,
I’ll rescue you.
I’ll protect you
because you know my name.
Whenever you cry out to me,
I’ll answer.
I’ll be with you in troubling times.
I’ll save you and glorify you.
I’ll fill you full with old age.
I’ll show you my salvation."

All because you are DEVOTED to GOD...
