HOME-Wreckers, Anyone? Let us Pray! - Ephesians 4:4-6,17-32

Greetings!
BlogFam, On today, our scripture will guide the content of our prayer... Be Blessed!

HOME-wrecker, Anyone? Let’s Pray!

Ephesians 4:4-6, 17-32

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Holy One, we rejoice that in you is unity.   You are one in the totality of yourself and for that we are grateful.  We thank you for this model of one-ness which gives us the promise that unity can be a reality in our homes.  We thank you that as we choose to respond to Your call to hope, we are saying yes to being one with You, who is over all and through all and in all.

So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.

Today, we come to you because the unity that is possible through You is being disrupted, disturbed, and even seemingly destroyed by the HOME-wreckers that invade and attack us in so many different ways.  These HOME-wreckers are relentless in their pursuit.

The HOME-wreckers who would teach us things that are contrary to your will.

The HOME-wreckers whose darkness has come to dim the Light of the hope you have given to us.

The HOME-wreckers who live a life separated from the life of God because of their ignorance and their refusal to invite you into the home of their heart.

The HOME-wreckers who think that their way is the better way but do not yet realize that their way is destined to failure, friction, and fighting.

The HOME-wreckers who are insensitive to our desire to please You.

The HOME-wreckers who would even go as far as using their sensuality to derail the love, peace, and joy that once thrived in our home because they are so apparently selfish, greedy, callous, and mean that unity is never a concern or a consideration for them.

That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Lord, first we confess our own HOME-wrecker tendencies and ask that you would first forgive us. And now, we also intercede on behalf of the HOME-wreckers we know because this is not theway of life we have learned from the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We recognize that it is time for all HOME-wreckers to put off their old ways which are corrupted by their deceitful desires and to put on the mind of Christ with a new attitude so that we can all walk in true righteousness, holiness, and unity.

Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold. Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

Lord, help us all to live a life that is the direct opposite of the HOME-wreckers we know or see in the mirror.  Help us to put off falsehood and to speak truthfully to all people.  And when our tempers flare and our nerves are shot and our blood is boiling, Lord, keep us from sin.  Give us the courage to name what has caused us to feel angry and to address it in love.

Lord, we do not want to allow the enemy to use our mind, body, or spirit as a vessel to wreck our homes or the homes of others.  We pray that we will no longer allow HOME-wreckers to steal the love, the peace, or the joy of our home’sunity.  We pray that every negative energy or action will be blocked and transformed by your power to something useful, something that can be shared to improve the quality of life in our home.

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Lord, we acknowledge that one of the tactics of the HOME-wrecker is to attack our home with words.  So, we come against every destructive, divisive, and disruptive word.  We pray that our home will be a place where the words in our home will be used to build up according to the need of the individual, the kinds of words that may benefit all who listen.

Lord, by your power, may we not grieve the Holy Spirit but may we yield the fruit of the Spirit in all we do and say.  We know that your power will also rid us of the HOME-wrecker’s rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.  And Lord, we pray that our home will be known as a place where all will experience our kindness, compassion, and forgiveness as we have already received from You.

Holy One, we rejoice that in you is unity.   You are one in the totality of yourself and for that we are grateful.  We thank you for this model of one-ness which gives us the promise that unity can be a reality in our homes and HOME-wreckers will not survive or thrive iat our address.  We thank you that as we choose to respond to Your call to hope, we are saying yes to being one with You, who is over all and through all and in all.  In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

Black History Month - Quote of the Day:
Whitney Houston [1963 - 2012]
"God gave me a voice to sing with, and when you have that,
 what other gimmick is there?"

"I like being a woman, even in a man's world. After all, men can't wear dresses,
but we can wear the pants."

AND on Whitney Houston being Whitney Houston:
"That was too much. Too much to try to live up to. Too much to try to be, you know?
And I wanted out at some point."
