Zappy Rhythms - 1 Peter 1:3-7

Greetings!

Musical Term for the Day:
zappy - energetic, lively, or fast-moving; zippy

1 Peter 1:3-7
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Zappy Rhythms

Today marks the last day of our Musical Term Series.  I have led you through the entire alphabet with a musical term beginning with each letter.  Today is the letter “Z.”  Unlike the somber expressions you might encounter when other things come to an end, I thought that our term for the day would infuse you with great energy and encouragement which should be characteristic of our witness.

I have worked with a number of young people over the years and one consistent remark is that being a Christian is or at least it looks boring.  I cannot say that I totally disagree considering the appearance of some of my fellow sistas and brothas of the faith. However, I can also testify, moreso, that I have had the blessing of being in relationship with some phenomenal men and women who are serving their church and community in creative and strategic ways that allow God’s Light to shine through them.  They are choosing to follow the zappy rhythms of a divine tempo as set by the Holy One.

If there are any people on this earth who should be having FUN and living life to the FULLEST, I think it should be those who have been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven [MSG].  I know that there are certain boundaries that we might set around our lives in order to follow the direction of the Master Conductor; but I do not think that our lives should be described as boring so as not to attract others to God’s Light in us.

Unfortunately, there are many Christians who choose to dim the Light of Christ because they choose to zap the excitement of living a life totally surrendered to God.  A life that is FREE to expect an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven.     A life that is FREE to experience being kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.   A life that is FREE to express wonderful joy ahead, even though we have to endure many trials for a little while [NIV].

BlogFam, our scripture for today says that God according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a LIVELY hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.  A lively hope has a zappy rhythm that engages us in such a way that we cannot be silent, sappy, or still!   A lively hope has a zappy rhythm that runs deeper than the vibration of a bass drum and flows higher than the energy of the fastest salsa.  A lively hope has a zappy rhythm that is soulful, joyful, and hopeful. This rhythm carries us through the darkest nights and the brightest mornings.  This zappy rhythm controls those who surrender to its power and promises to never leave or forsake.  Its presence is like none other.

My Friends, Can you feel this holy beat? Are you open to the spontaneous staccato of the holy?  Will you dare to release your fears and inhibitions and trust the safety of God’s zappy rhythm?

Now, I do not want you to think that flowing with this tempo will shield you from all hurt or guarantee you happiness all the time but the Word promises that your FAITH will miraculously be purified and made strong with the ebb and flow of God’s zappy rhythms.

Sistas and brothas, we have a LIVELY hope! And it is my prayer that you would embrace the Original Composer’s zappy rhythm and allow it to carry you through until the day your faith will be set on display as evidence of victory, vitality, vibrancy, and vivacity!

Blessed be God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ!!!

PS – I wonder what our new series will be… See you tomorrow!
