Today is the final post in our GAIN SOME WAIT Series. If you have missed the previous posts, then I ask you to please check out the other posts in this series, including the original post that inspired them all. THANK YOU for walking with me through my reflections on waiting IN God and waiting ON God. I am praying for all of you who read this blog and I welcome you to share your own reflections in the comments. THANK YOU!
And now to The Waiting Point…
Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Zion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.
Now that we have come to the end of this series, and not necessarily the end of our wait, for many of you, the question remains: WHAT IS THE POINT OF ALL THIS WAITING? We have covered a lot of ground from which you could formulate your own response to this question; however, since you are here, I might as well share with you my thoughts in response to such a valid question. WHAT IS THE POINT OF ALL THIS WAITING?
If you noticed, the title of this post is NOT Getting to the Waiting PLACE. Most of us are already there. We just need a reminder or perhaps a clearer understanding of WHY we are there waiting and waiting and waiting some more. WHAT IS THE POINT OF ALL THIS WAITING? Well, BlogFam, I am convinced that the primary point of waiting is to get to a place where our hearts are totally convicted that our God is everything – so much so, that whether or not what we are waiting for is granted or denied, we are satisfied that God, ALONE, is all we need. In other words, our praise, our worship, our devotion, the throne of our heart is solely reserved for our God. Thus, the point of waiting is so that all of our desires, longings, expectations are made complete in communion with the Holy.
O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.
The point of waiting is NOT to ensure that you have the best testimony or the deepest revelation or so that you can be celebrated for being patient through the process. Get over yourself! The point of waiting is ALL ABOUT THE ONE WHO HAS YOU WAITING IN THE FIRST PLACE!
Ladies and Gents, we MUST get to the waiting point where what we are prayerfully waiting on will not overshadow the ONE who is calling us to Him during our wait. We are to humbly come to Him and get so lost in our love for God that our fleshly desires are diminished or even dismissed in the light of His glory. We are then CHANGED for we begin to see the truth about ourselves – the good, the bad, and the ugly– and God’s truth will lead us to CONFESSION of our sins, seeking forgiveness of our transgressions as we forgive our transgressors. So that, when the wait is over, our hearts will be pure and our iniquities will no longer prevail.
Blessed is the man whom THOU choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
BlogFam, you have been chosen to WAIT. You are correct in thinking that you did not make this choice. God did. God chose to bring you to this waiting place so that He could spend more time with you and love you in ways that you have never experienced. This wait, is really an invitation to come to Him. PLEASE DO NOT MISS THIS POINT! God has made the choice to invite YOU to dwell in His courts and to be satisfied with the goodness of His presence. This is the point of why we MUST wait. When we wait, we are saying YES to the invitation to dwell in the presence of the Almighty who is willing and able to supply all of our deepest needs so that we can know and fulfill God’s greatest purpose.
So, PRAISE GOD! PRAISE GOD! PRAISE GOD for God has chosen YOU to wait!
Will YOU accept this invitation?
Our God is waiting for YOU to come and Get To The WAITING POINT!
