But They Loved Human Praise...

Greetings!

BlogFam,
Everybody loves to be recognized, acknowledged, celebrated for something that they have done.  Some prefer a surprise note in the mail or a plaque for their wall or to have their named called publicly or a quiet whisper of gratitude.  Everybody appreciates the feeling of knowing that what they said or did or contributed, mattered.  Now I know some of you claim that you do not "need" it.  That is OK.  That is your truth.  You may not "need" it, but most of you will not deflect it when it comes your way, especially if you know it is a sincere gesture of thanks,  Besides, it is OK, for the most part to desire this kind of affirmation for the ways you are a blessing to your family or an asset on your job or a great addition to the team,  It is OK to want, and even need, to hear complimentary words that make you smile and encourage you to keep doing whatever it is that you are doing.

When Jesus is Troubled...

Greetings!

BlogFam,
I really do not plan to keep you long today.  I just had to acknowledge that even Jesus felt troubled..anxious...uneasy...unsettled...worried...concerned... and agitated.  I think that this is a critical acknowledgment and I am so glad the Gospel of John records this very human moment as we will read below in John 12:27-28.  I think some of us might need to brace ourselves because the exalted nature of our Lord seems to conflict with the troubled expressions of the Carpenter.

FORGET THAT DONKEY! John 12:12-19 [Read the Blog for the Real]

Greetings!
Today is August 1, 2017.  It is the first day of the month of my birth and my birthday is nine days away. [HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Delesslyn!]  Though I know that we traditionally celebrate LENT in preparation of Resurrection Sunday, I believe that we can fast and pray any time of the year.  Actually, anytime is a good time to sacrifice unto the Lord, reflect upon His goodness, and to seek God's will for your life.  I am doing a guided reflection using the book, 40 Days of Decrease by Alicia Britt Chole.

REST is a Good Promise

Greetings!

BlogFam,

REST is a good promise.  And if I were a betting person, I would probably win the bet that you have never considered rest as a good part of God’s promise to us.  When we celebrate the promises of God as recorded in the Holy Writ, we most often celebrate the kind of promises that we believe will bring us the physical healing, financial breakthrough, or the social promotion that we want, need, or just secretly desire.  We might be grateful for the rest we get when we go to bed at night or from the cat naps we take during the day, but to think of rest as a promise fulfilled by God just might be a new way to begin to think of rest.

Exhaustion Calls for REST. Period.

Greetings!

BlogFam -
Today we are going to jump right into the scripture for our reflection on REST…

2 Samuel 16
When King David came to Bahurim, a man from the same clan as Saul’s family came out from there. His name was Shimei; he was Gera’s son. He was cursing as he came out. He threw rocks at David and at all of King David’s servants, even though the entire army and all the warriors were on either side of him… So David and his men kept walking, while Shimei went along on the hillside next to him, cursing as he went, throwing rocks and dirt at him.
